Bali & Atlantis-The Lost Continent

After two weeks I finished reading the book written by a researcher from Brazil. It's title : Atlantis-The Lost Continent Finally Found. The writer, Prof. Arysio Santos Ph.D. dedicated 30 years of his life to research the location of Atlantis. I read the book that already translated in Bahasa Indonesia. The book contain 677 pages, I enjoy reading it. Even it's quite thick but I felt like addicted and couldn't stop reading till the end.

There is one interesting part written in the book about Bali Island. The writer said Bali Island was the edge of Atlantis (around 11,600 years ago). The strait of Lombok was the entry to the Atlantis. Mt. Agung in Bali island and Mt. Rinjani in Lombok island were the first pair of Pillar Hercules. It's called Pillar Hercules because when the mountain erupted the lava & ashes would be in high sky & forming a big pillar. It's interesting isn't it? If you have any comment please let me know.

Indonesia & Atlantis-The Lost Continent

In the night at the end of July, 2010 when I was taking rest at my house in Denpasar, Bali, I saw a TV news program from a local TV. A few men were interviewed about the possibility that Indonesia might be the location of Atlantis-the lost continent. Most of the people interviewed had positive attitude about the news. As Indonesian citizen I could feel the same way of what they felt. Surprised but happy & pride inside. But how could it be? What I knew so far the word Atlantis means the civilization should be around Atlantic Ocean.

The TV program also broad casted a video clip showing a researcher being interviewed by a reporter. Almost at the end of the interview the researcher said the ancestor of ancient Egyptian said Egypt was the "second home" for them. So, where was the first one? It should be somewhere out of Egypt and it's in Indonesia or what the ancient people called East Indies.

A Professor from Brazil, Dr. Arysio Santos, Ph.D is the researcher who discovered it. He made research for about 30 years. But he never went to Indonesia, that's what I heard in the news. The documentary film that show an interview with Prof. Arysio Santos' was broad casted that time. It's very interesting to me. Driven by curiosity I search the website and found the website link at http://www.atlan.org/
After browsing the website, I started to know the logical thinking of the researcher. He made a checklist (a total of 32) and the area that 100% match is the East Indies (area from India to Indonesia). • In history lesson when I was in junior high, I was taught by my teacher that Indonesian ancestor came from Yunnan, a highland in South China. They came to Indonesia around 200 BC. It's logical and make sense. I saw a film made by National Geographic shows that half of the minority ethnic in China live in Yunnan. It made Indonesian became multi cultural & tribes because the ancestors also came from many ethnic in China.

• The atlantis civilization was 11,600 years ago (around 9,600 BC). It means the Atlantis people were not the ancestor of Indonesian. But the location of Atlantis might be in Indonesia. There are many earthquakes here because there is intersection between Mediterranean & circum-Pacific ring of fire. Luckily the intersection is in the ocean around Maluku Islands. So the effect of earthquakes there is not severe. Not to mention that there was the greatest volcano eruption around 75,000 years ago at Lake Toba. We can see the illustrated movie from Discovery Channel. There was a huge Tsunami in Sumatra a few years ago. The victims of this nature accident was around 200,000 people died. Maybe this nature power was the one that create huge flood and made atlantis civilization vanished. There are shallow oceans around Java & Sumatra Islands. The depth is around 200 m. Are those places might be the location of the last continent? Let's the scientiests reveal it.

I was quite surprised when I knew that Prof. Arysio Santos passed away on September 9, 2005. It was Frank Joseph Hoff the president of Atlantis Publications Inc. who let me knew about it after I sent an email to him. I thought the Prof. should be very happy if he could go here to continue the research. His research is a great "Gift to the World".
